Germany claims all four possible gold medals
Whistler (pps) Germany was the most successful national federation at the 44th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Whistler (Canada) with a total of eight medals, thereof four with a golden sheen, to its credit. In addition to the four gold medals of Natalie Geisenberger, Felix Loch, the doubles with Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt and the one in the Team Relay event, the protégés of national head coach Norbert Loch claimed three silver and one bronze medal, respectively.
Host Canada won the silver medal in the Team Relay event as well as a bronze medal thanks to Alex Gough in the women’s singles. With one bronze medal each, Austria and Latvia are on third place of the medal table. The team of brothers Andreas and Wolfgang Linger represented Austria’s colors on the podium while Latvia claimed its third bronze medal in the Team Relay event after 2008 and 2009.
