Medals for PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games unveiled

PyeongChang (RWH) The gold, silver and bronze medals for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang were officially unveiled in the Korean capital Seoul. According to a PyeongChang2018 press release, the design of the medals reflects the traditions and culture of the host nation as well as Olympic values.
The medals, designed by industrial designer LEE Suk-woo, are about nine centimetre and weigh between 493 (bronze) and 586 (gold) gram. The front side shows the Olympic rings with a background of diagonal lines. The reverse side shows discipline, event and the PyeongChang 2018 emblem, while the official title of the PyeongChang 2018 Games in the Korean Hangul consonants is written on the sides of the medals.
The teal and light red medal ribbon is made from the traditional Gapsa textile of Korea, embroidered with Hangeul patterns and other Korean designs.
