First season’s victory for Demtschenko – Zöggeler still leads in overall ranking

Lillehammer (pps) Albert Demtschenko (RUS) celebrated his first victory of the season in Viessmann Luge World Cup. At the Olympic luge track of 1994 in Lillehammer (NOR), the Olympic Silver medallist of 2006 in a total time of one minute 40,356 seconds banned Italy’s six times World Champion Armin Zöggeler (one minute 40,406 seconds), who was leading after first run, to rank two. On third place came reigning World Champion Felix Loch (GER, one minute 40,674 seconds).
In overall ranking of Viessmann Luge World Cup Zöggeler is still leading with 370 points, followed by Loch (290). Albert Demtschenko, Overall Champion in Viessmann Luge World Cup 2004/2005, with his 11th victory in World Cup and 279 points is on rank three.
