Whistler (pps) The Jury of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in close cooperation with race director Ed Moffat and the Organizing Committee VANOC re-established the start heights for Women and Doubles. The races in both disciplines will now be started from the Juniors‘ start. It has been determined already before that the Men will commence their race from the Women’s start. FIL Secretary General Svein Romstad stated, that those changes were made for “emotional and psychological” reasons in consideration of the athletes.
The length of the track for the men’s race by this is shortened by 176m and the number of curves is reduced from 16 to 14. The lenght of the women's race will be 953m.
