Sigulda (pps) David Möller (GER), Silke Kraushaar-Pielach (GER) and Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber are the winners of the fourth and last Suzuki Challenge Cup in season 2007/08 at the lugetrack in Sigulda (Latvia). Two –times World Champion Möller in the final in 49,455 seconds batted his teammate Jan Eichhorn (GER, 49,539). In the small final won five times World Champion Armin Zöggeler (ITA, 49,436) and so finished the race in Sigulda on third rank, followed by Austria’s Martin Abentung (49,702). Italy’s two-times Olympic Champion Zöggeler with his third place in Sigulda defended his title in overall ranking of Suzuki Challenge Cup with 340 points, followed by Olympic-fifth David Möller (GER, 330) and his teammate Jan Eichhorn (276). The last Suzuki Challenge Cup of the season won the Olympic Champion of 1998, Silke Kraushaar-Pielach (GER, 43,436 seconds) followed by titleholder Natalia Yakushenko (UKR, 43,716). Winner of the small final and on third rank was local hero Maija Tiruma (LAT, 43,648). Tiruma batted two times World Champion Tatjana Hüfner (GER, 44,115), who finished fourth. The overall Suzuki Challenge Cup won three times European Champion Silke Kraushaar-Pielach (GER, 355 points), followed by Austria’s Junior-World Champion of 2002 Nina Reithmayer (256) and World Champion Tatjana Hüfner (GER, 245). The doubles finals won the European Champions Christian Oberstolz/ Patrick Gruber (ITA, 43,057 seconds) followed by Germany’s four times World Champions Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch (43,260). Winners of the small final and therefore on third rank were Austria’s Olympic Champions Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger (43,196). Olympic bronze medallists Gerhard Plankensteiner/Oswald Haselrieder (ITA, 43,291) finished fourth. Leitner/Resch with 370 points won the overall ranking of Suzuki Challenge Cup for the first time in their career. Titleholders Oberstolz/Gruber are on rank two (301), the World Champions of 2003, Linger/Linger (AUT, 294) finished third.
