Oberhof (pps). David Möller, Sylke Otto und Christian Oberstolz/Patrik Gruber are the winners of the Suzuki Challenge Cup on the luge track in Oberhof (Germany).
In the fourth and last race of the season, Möller, World Champion of 2004, in the final in 43,988 seconds put through against Italy´s Wilfried Huber (44,116). Möllers teammate and Vice European Champion of 2002, Dennis Geppert, finished third. In first run, Möller improved the seven years old track record of three times Olympic Champion and Word Champion Georg Hackl to 43,967 seconds.
At the women´s competition won Olympic Champion Sylke Otto her final run in 41,440 seconds, followed by her teammate and World Champion of 2004, Silke Kraushaar (41,623). Third was Austria´s Veronika Halder. Also at the women´s competition the track record of Silke Kraushaar of the year 2004 was improved. Four times World Champion Sylke Otto improved the record in the half finals to 41,422 seconds.
The doubles-finals won Overall World Cup Champions ChristianOberstolz/Patrik Gruber from Italy (41,271). Rank two went to Germany`s World Champions Andre Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich (41,502) followed by World Championships Bronze medallists Mark Grimette/Brian Martin from USA.
All Oberhof-winners also won the Overall ranking of the Suzuki Challenge Cup. At the men, David Möller with totally 270 points was on first rank and won a bonus of 1.600 Euro. Austria´s Markus Kleinheiz and Tony Benshoof from USA devided rank two with 265 points at a time.
At the women, Sylke Otto won the overall ranking with 270 points and a bonus of 1.600 Euro. Second rank went to Anastasia Oberstolz-Antonova (ITA, 199 points), followed by Austria´s Veronika Halder (194 points).
The overall ranking of the doubles won Italys Oberstolz/Gruber (310 points) and get a bonus of 2.000 Euro. Rank two went to Austria´s World Champions of 2003 Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger (285 points), rank three went to Gerhard Plankensteiner/Oswald Haselrieder (270 points) from Italy.
