Moscow (PMA) - Russia is host of the fourth stage of the 2015/16 natural track season. The race will be held in Russia’s capital city Moscow. The track is situated on Sparrow Hills, a hill on the right bank of the Moskva River and one of the highest points in Moscow.

International Luge Federation (FIL) members Chris Karl, Director Sport and Technical Matters Natural Track, and Josef Ploner, head of the track construction commission, paid a visit to the Russian Capital. “The track is beautiful. It is situated in a recreation area and offers a great view to the city. We are glad to be back in Moscow. When I look back at the races in 2004 I remember thousands of fans and great atmosphere at Sparrow hills”, describes Chris Karl.

 

FIL’s officials were welcomed warmly by a large delegation of the Russian federation:. Natalya Gart, president of the Russian Luge Federation (FSSR), Gennady Rodionov, vice president, Stanislav Tjurin, executive director, Rina Velanskaya, head of media, Andrew Knyr, head coach, Andrey Blinov, consultant of the president and Aleksandr Legaev, track construction commission, accompanied the FIL inspection.

„We are very satisfied with the progression of the track reconstruction. We are looking forward to return with the Natural Track family in January and have a fantastic event at Moscow”, states Chris Karl.

Two races will be held from 21st to 25th January at Sparrow Hills. On Sunday there is a World Cup race and on Monday there will be the premiere of the pursuit race. The new format will be tested in competition mode without World Cup points awarded.
