Movie recommendation: “Riding the Luge Dream” – A tribute to the sport of luge and the Olympic spirit

Sarajevo (FIL/09 Apr 2025) We are thrilled to recommend the impressive documentary “Riding the Luge Dream”, directed by Nihad Ušanović – a moving work about passion, hope and the unifying power of sport.

The documentary traces the history of Olympic luge and bobsleigh in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH) from the awarding of the Winter Olympics to Sarajevo in 1984 to the present day. It takes us back to a time when Sarajevo shone in the glory of the Olympic rings and values such as friendship and unity shaped the world of sport.

Through the authentic testimonies of former athletes who competed for the former Yugoslavia and later for Bosnia-Herzegovina, the deep emotional and social significance of sport becomes tangible. The film shows how a love of sledding unites generations and gives new hope.

The focus is also on the young people of today, whose dreams come alive in the vision of a newly revitalized Trebević track. A generation without the burdens of the past, but with the firm will to revive the sport of luge, to compete internationally and to carry the Olympic values forward.
