Novouralsk (ck) - Interview with Natalia Gart, President of Russia's Luge Federation and CEO of the GRM Group, the new name sponsor of the natural track world cup. You are the President of a huge and successful federation. How do you lead such a huge federation? I work every day and I have very good people in my federation. In both departments, artificial track and natural track, I have people I can rely on for the daily business. I keep control about decisions of situations. Before Christmas you visited Novouralsk, the first natural track race in your position as President. What was your impression? It is a fantastic sport and I am disappointed that it is not an Olympic sport. The athletes and the sport are good enough to be there. Now we have to motivate more athletes to participate in races. Also in Russia, we have to build new tracks. My dream is to organize a race with a lot of nations in Moscow. This has to be an event which attracts young people, an event with music and shows. It has to feel like we are celebrating something, a weekend where families go for fun and fans support the athletes. Like Königssee in artificial track. Russia has always been a strong nation in natural track and is becoming even stronger. What does Russia better than other nations? Luge has a long tradition in Russia. Because of our long winters, children grow up with sliding and like to have a sled. We also have good, partly very old schools with excellent coaches. We chose the talents and we support them. You are not only the President of a federation, you are also a business woman and run the GRM Group. How can you combine these two jobs? This is easy: my company looks just like me. If I love a sport, my company also loves this sport. Everything is ok in my company, we just became “Company of the Year” in Russia and we have some future projects. The production of so called “media screens” is one branch of my company and currently we have Europe’s biggest media screen in Moscow. It is 4000m² big and shows the Russian luge team.
