Park City (pps) Natalie Geisenberger of Germany remains undefeated in the Olympic season. At the 5th stop of the Viessmann Luge World Cup series in Park City, the 25-year-old World Champion claimed the podium’s top spot again. It was the 21st individual victory of her career.

Team-mate Anke Wischnewski and Canada’s Alex Gough claimed the second and third place finishe, respectively on the Olympic track of the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Former Junior World Champion Kate Hansen finished 4th place, her best result ever. And Julia Clukey claimed 6th place behind Germany’s Dajana Eitberger and probably secured her ticket for the Olympic Winter Games at Sochi (Russia).

With the ideal score of 500 points to her credit, Geisenberger is clearly heading the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup rankings ahead of Anke Wischnewski (341 points) and Alex Gough (331 points).

Quotes

Natalie Geisenberger (GER / 2013 World Champion, 2010 Olympic bronze medalist)

“Things didn’t really work out in the training runs. But then I thought to myself – you’ve always improved during the competition. And well, that’s what happened again today. Of course it’s a boost for the self-confidence to have such a string of success and it’s a lot of fun, too. Anyway, we’re having a lot of fun together in our team.”

Anke Wischnewski (GER / 2007 World silver medalist, fifth place at the 2010 Olympic Games)

“When we raced here three years ago, I also claimed a second place finish. Natalie is really on a winning streak – she slides down the tracks and then there’s always the ‘Number One’ on the result lists. Well, maybe I’ll defeat here one day…”

Alex Gough (CAN / 2011 and 2013 World bronze medalist)

“Overall I’m really happy where I’m at. Right now, I just need to build on what I’ve been doing so far. I want to maintain my strength, continue to have good starts and need to get a clear head for the upcoming four races after Christmas.”
