Natalie Geisenberger takes third win in four races

Altenberg (RWH) The 2014 Olympic Champion Natalie Geisenberger has clinched her third win in the fourth race of the season to extend her lead in the overall standings of the Viessmann World Cup. The three-time World Champion secured the 41st individual victory of her career at the Viessmann World Cup in Altenberg.

 Geisenberger set a new track record of 52.036 seconds on her second run. Tatjana Hüfner (GER), who held the previous track record of 52.175 seconds, finished second place just 0.157 seconds back. The 2010 Olympic Champion can take comfort from setting a new start record of 5.451 seconds on her first run. The two Olympic Champions were separated by just two thousandths of a second after the first run.

 Third place went to Dajana Eitberger (GER). Canada’s Alex Gough and Russia’s Tatyana Ivanova followed in fourth and fifth places respectively.

 Geisenberger leads the overall standings of the Viessmann World Cup with 370 points, ahead of record-breaking World Champion Tatjana Hüfner (300) and Dajana Eitberger (GER) on 228 points.
