Natalie Geisenberger, Wolfgang Kindl and Müller/Frauscher win Nations Cup
Altenberg (FIL) Former World Champion Wolfgang Kindl (AUT), Olympic Champion Natalie Geisenberger (GER) and the Doubles Yannick Müller / Armin Frauscher took the victory in the Nations Cup on Friday, December 4, 2020, in Altenberg, Saxony. The FIL Nations Cup in luge is the qualification race for the EBERSPÄCHER World Cup on Saturday and Sunday in Altenberg.
The Tyrolean Wolfang Kindl won in 54.567 seconds ahead of his team mate Reinhard Egger (+0.073) and the Latvian Arturs Darznieks (+0.120). The four-time Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger (GER/52.762 Sec.) relegated her teammate Dajana Eitberger (+0.263) and the Italian Verena Hofer (+0.617) to second and third place. Geisenberger showed on the day before the EBERSPÄCHER Luge World Cup that she will have a big say in the World Cup competition for victory: „After it didn't go so well in training on Thursday, the Nations Cup run today was a very good one and I am optimistic for the World
Cup tomorrow, even if the outside temperatures are getting warmer".
In the Doubles' race the Austrians Yannick Müller and Armin Frauscher won in 42.196 seconds. The young Latvian duo Martins Bots / Roberts Plume (+0.073) finished second in the Nations Cup, ahead of the Russian double Vladislav Yuzhakov / Iurii Prokhorov (+0.130).
