Calgary (pps) Poland’s Ewelina Staszulonek prevented a Canadian triple victory at the Nation’s Cup at the opener of the Viessmann Luge World Cup at Calgary (CAN). The Men’s and Double’s races were won by Jeff Christie and Chris Moffat/Mike Moffat.
Ewelina Staszulonek, who finished the Worlds last week at Lake Placid (USA) on place 13, won in 48.345 seconds followed by Canada’s Regan Lauscher (0.014 seconds back) and Ashley Walden (USA / 0.049 back). Walden finished the Worlds on 7th place. Her team-mates and 5th of the Worlds, Julia Cluckey finished on 17th place and missed the Viessmann World Cup on Friday Feb. 13th in the Canada Olympic Park (COP).
In the double’s race Chris Moffat and his brother Mike captured the top position. They clocked after 44.783 seconds followed by Christian Niccum/Daniel Joye (0,047 seconds back) and Canada’s Grant Albrecht/Nick Olson (0,199 seconds back). Moffat/Moffat finished the Worlds last weak on 10th place.
Jeff Christie, on 23rd position at the Worlds, won the men’s race in 45.759 seconds followed by Adam Rosen (0.175 seconds back) from Great Britain and Austria’s Manuel Pfister (0.178 seconds back).
