Lillehammer (pps) David Mair from Italy, Natalia Yakushenko (UKR) and Italy’s Gerhard Plankensteiner/Oswald Haselrieder won the Nations cup at Lillehammer (NOR).
In the men’s race David Mair in 50,317 seconds banned Stefan Höhener (SUI) and Latvia’s Olympic bronze medallist of 2006 Martins Rubenis, both with the equal time of 50,505 seconds, to rank two. Qualified for the men’s race at Viessmann luge world cup (start sunday, 13th december, 12.00 h) are also the three norwegian athletes Tonnes Stang Rolfsen, Thor Haug Norbrech and Jo Alexander Koppang. Now the organisation team hopes for a lot of fans at the Olympic luge track from 1994 to support their local heroes.
Winner of the women’s race at Nations Cup was Natalia Yakushenko from Ukraine (48.566 seconds) followed by Ewelina Staszulonek (POL, 48,809) and Megan Sweeny from the USA (49,021).
In double’s second place behind the reigning World Champions Plankensteiner/Haselrieder (48,341 seconds) went to Christian Niccum/Daniel Joye from USA (48,513). Peter Fischnaller/Patrick Schwienbacher (ITA, 48,716) finished third.
