Altenberg (pps) Johannes Ludwig (GER), Ewelina Staszulonek (POL) and Michail Kuzmich/Stanislav Mikheev (RUS) won the Nations Cup at Viessmann Luge World Cup in Altenberg.
Johannes Ludwig, sixth of European Championships 2010, at the Altenberg bobtrack in 55,509 seconds banned Austria’s Manuel Pfister (0,150 seconds back) and Maciej Kurowski (POL, 0,320 seconds back) to rank two and three. As additional starter of the German luge team, Johannes Ludwig is not starting at the men’s World Cup race in Altenberg (Sunday, 23 January, 8.25 am).
The women’s Nations Cup won Poland’s Ewelina Staszulonek with a run time of 54,124 seconds. Rank two behind the Olympic-Eighth of 2010 went to Lisa Liebert (GER, 0,112 seconds back) followed by Anne Pietrasik (GER, 0,216 seconds back) at rank three. Both German athletes are additional starters and will not compete at the women’s World Cup in Altenberg (Start Saturday, 22. January, 9.00 am).
The doubles race won Russia’s Michail Kuzmich/Vladimir Mikheev in 42,937 seconds followed by Olympic Silver Medallists Andris Sics/Juris Sics (LAT, 0,084 seconds back) and the German additional starters Ronny Pietrasik/Christian Weise (GER, 0,087 seconds back).
