Bratislava (RWH) For the second time, Slovakia will host the congress of the international Luge Federation (FIL). In 1995, Štrbské Pleso showcased the annual gathering of the international federation. At that time, Josef Fendt had been FIL president for one year, 23 years later and this time in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava, the 70-year-old Berchtesgaden native is running again at the 66th Congress on June 15-16, 2018.

The election of the President is not the only item of interest at the 66th FIL Congress. The delegates of the national associations are also electing members of the Presidium and Executive Board. In addition to Josef Fendt (GER); Harald Steyrer (AUT) is also up for election as the Vice President of Finance. The office of Secretary-General will also have to be filled. The previous office-holder, Svein Romstad (USA), announced his resignation last year at the Congress in Constanţa, Romania. Fendt, President of the International Federation since 1994, favours Einars Fogelis, until now Vice President of Technical Affairs.

In addition to the election of many individuals, resolutions on amending the International Luge Regulations (IRO) and the FIL Statutes will also be on the agenda.
