The new logo

Tampere (FIL/24.06.2025) At the 2025 Annual Congress of the International Luge Federation, several significant changes were decided for the field of natural track luge. Here is an overview of the most important resolutions:

•    New Name
The area of Natural Track & Grassroots Sport has been consolidated under the name Alpine Luge. The International Luge Regulations (IRO) will also be adjusted accordingly. The World Cups will now be called FIL Alpine Luge World Cup and FIL Alpine Luge Junior World Cup.

•    New Logo
Everything will now operate under the name Alpine Luge, and a new logo has already been created to reflect this. This makes the change visible to the outside world as well. The new logo can be found in the attachment.

•    Championships
The following championships were awarded by the Congress:
o    European Championships 2026: Laas/Lasa (ITA)
o    World Championships 2027: Innsbruck/Igls (AUT), jointly with the Artificial Track World Championships
o    World Championships 2029: Jaufental/Val di Giovo (ITA)

•    Russia
Due to Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, which violates international law, athletes and officials from Russia will not be allowed to participate in any competitions of the International Luge Federation FIL in the upcoming season—this includes participation under a neutral flag.

"We are in a period of change and renewal. The development of the Alpine Luge as a new piece of sports equipment is progressing, even if there are still many steps ahead. A milestone on this path is undoubtedly the new name along with the new logo," explained Andreas Castiglioni, Director of Sport and Technology for Alpine Luge at the International Luge Federation FIL.
