Winterberg (pps) In the upcoming winter, the bobsleigh track in Winterberg, Germany, will present itself in a custom-made new design. About 30 years after the opening of the track in 1977, particularly the start area is currently redesigned.
The most important change is the new construction of the start area including the construction of a roof over the entire sled storage area. The reconstruction also means that the women’s start will be relocated. In the future, the women will also start from the top over a race dinstance that is only slightly shorter than in men’s singles. With these modification measures, the track operators in Winterberg follow requests from both the International Bobsleigh Federation (FIBT) and the International Luge Federation (FIL).
At the same time, new facilities are constructed in the start area. The new buildings accommodate changing rooms as well as rooms for coaches, officials and various controls and represent a future-oriented solution, which also fits in the landscape.
