Altenberg (pps) With a little surprise the SUZUKI Challenge Cup was terminated at Altenberg (GER). Austria’s Nina Reithmayer managed to beat the dominating German women. The 23 year old girl claimed the win in the duell against World Champion Tatjana Hüfner with 54,425 seconds. It was the third time in the history of the SUZUKI Challenge Cup, that none of the German luge racers was on top of the podium. In the past only Ukraine’s Natalia Yakuschenko had managed to do so twice.
Olympic Champions Andreas Linger/Wolfgang Linger secured the second Austrian success with beating Patric Leitner/Alexander Resch in the final duell. World Champions André Florschütz/Torsten Wustlich finished third.
In the men’s race Armin Zöggeler from Italy won ahead of Albert Demtschenko (RUS) and Stefan Höhener from Switzerland.
