Nine nations with at least one Under 23 World Championship medal since 2009

Berchtesgaden (RWH) Nine nations have won at least one medal at the Under 23 World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) since the inaugural event in 2009. The Russians are in the lead with six gold, one silver, and four bronze medals to date. The German team is close behind in second place (five gold, two silver, one bronze). The Italian squad is in third place with two gold, four silver, and six bronze.
The remaining medals are divided between the teams from the USA, Canada, Austria, Poland, Latvia, and Korea. The doubles pairing of Jinyong Park/Jung Myung Cho have won two bronze medals (in 2015 and 2016) for Korea, the host nation of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The most successful participant to date has been the two-time Olympic Champion Felix Loch (GER), who won the U23 championship title on two occasions (2011 and 2012). Summer Britcher (USA) leads the standings in the women’s event, having claimed gold in 2017 and two silver medals in previous years. The most successful doubles competitors are the Canadian pairing of Tristan Walker/Justin Snith with one gold and two silver medals.
