2013-2014 season: Six countries on two continents Berchtesgaden (pps) The sports calendar of the International Luge Federation, FIL, includes nine events in the Olympic 2013-2014 winter. A total of six countries (Norway, Austria, Germany, Canada, USA and Latvia) on two continents (Europe and North America) will host at least one Viessmann Luge World Cup event. The sports calendar was published by the FIL in Berchtesgaden. Season’s highlight are the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, with the decisions in the men’s singles (February 8-9, 2014), women’s singles (February 10-11, 2014), doubles (February 12, 2014) and – for the first time at Olympic Games – the FIL Team Relay event (February 13, 2014). The upcoming Viessmann Luge World Cup season will take off in Lillehammer, Norway, on November 16-17, 2013 before moving to Innsbruck-Igls (November 23-24, 2103) to Austria and then Winterberg (November 30-December 1, 2013) in Germany. Right before the Christmas break two events are planned in Whistler, Canada (December 6-7, 2013) and Park City (December 13-14, 2013) in the US state of Utah. The New Year 2014 will then kick off on the artificially refrigerated track in Koenigssee, Germany, on January 4-5, 2014. After the stops in Germany with Oberhof (January 11-12, 2014) and Altenberg (January 18-19, 2014), the final of the Viessmann Luge World Cup series will be carried out in Sigulda, Latvia on January 25-26, 2014. Sigulda will host the 45th FIL Luge European Championships at the same time.
