Norbert Loch head coach in Germany for another 4 years

Berchtesgaden (FIL/BSD) On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the German federation BSD (Bob- und Schlittenverband für Deutschland e. V.) announced the extension of the contract with head coach Norbert Loch, for another four years.
Loch, together with his coaching staff, will accompany the male and female luge athletes on their way to the Olympic Winter Games in Milano-Cortina 2026. With four gold and two silver medals at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing 2022, the Games in China were the most successful in the head coach's career so far.
"It is not always easy to lead such a successful team as ours. With Norbert Loch we have a very experienced coach who is up to the task. With his fatherly manner, he balances out a lot and enjoys the trust of his athletes. We are happy to be able to continue working with him," notes Sports Director Thomas Schwab. Norbert Loch added to the BSD: "I am very pleased that the federation is planning with me for the next Olympic cycle and has offered me a contract extension. I will gladly accept it and continue to be available to the team as head coach."

There are enough new goals: "The women's doubles will be a big challenge because we will have to restructure our staff in order to be able to take good care of this discipline. The clear goal will be to win the gold medal in women's doubles in 2026. Furthermore, the big gap that exists behind our two top doubles Eggert/Benecken and Wendl/Arlt has to be filled with medal candidates by 2026. Unfortunately, we have not managed to do that in the last four years, we should have tackled that more energetically. And ofcourse it is equally important to keep the women's and men's single-seater classes at world level," said Norbert Loch, who has been the head coach of the German national luge team since the 2008/2009 season.
