Norwegian Martin Alnes gets the 2016/2017 luge season underway

Lillehammer (RWH) The new ice track season is up and running. Norwegian slider Martin Alnes had the honour of completing the first run of the year on the Olympic track in Lillehammer (NOR) to mark the start of the 2016/2017 luge season. “I felt a little bit rusty, but it’s like riding a bike. You never forget how to do it!”, said the 18-year-old.
In addition to the host country, the national teams from Sweden, Poland, Italy, Austria and the USA are currently in training ahead of the new season. Germany’s national squad is due to head home on Friday 7 October and so will not take part in the Lillehammer Cup, which marks the end of the training week on 9 October.
