Koenigssee (pps) Novum for Austria in the Viessmann Luge World Cup: Two doubles’ teams posted exactly the same time and thus shared the top spot of the podium in Park City. Tied to a thousandth of a second Austria’s Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger and Peter Penz-Georg Fischler shared the victory. Penz-Fischler celebrated their first career win in the World Cup; it was the eighth victory for two-time Olympic champions Linger-Linger. The last time two teams shared a victory in the doubles’ occurred on February 8, 2003 in Winterberg when Germany’s Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch and Mark Grimmette-Brian Martin (USA) shared the podium’s top spot. Thanks to the success Grimmette-Martin earned the overall Viessmann Luge World Cup at that time, just nine points ahead of Leitner-Resch. Prior to the first Viessmann Luge World Cup event in the new year (January 5-6, 2011) on the artificially-iced track in Koenigssee, Germany’s Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt, third-placed in Park City, are heading the overall rankings with 330 points to their credit. Runner-up is the team with Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber (ITA/315) who posted a fourth place in Park City, ahead of Penz-Fischler (280) and Linger-Linger (276).
