Huefner, Loch and Wendl-Arlt the 2011 winners Oberhof (pps) In the past season the artificially refrigerated track in Oberhof was firmly in the hands of German lugers – after a triple success in 2009 and 2010, all the podium’s top spots last year were taken by athletes of the German Bobsleigh and Sled Sports Federation (BSD), namely Tatjana Huefner, Felix Loch, the doubles Tobias Wendl-Tobias Arlt as well as the German quartet in the Team Relay Event. And even most of the silver and bronze medals went to German lugers, too. Solely the Italian doubles team of Christian Oberstolz and Patrick Gruber was able to put a “dent” in Germany’s dominance. Russia won the Team Relay silver ahead of Italy. Oberhof, a true winter sports mecca, will host its 24th World Cup on the second weekend in January.
