Oberhof applies to host the FIL World Championships in 2023

Oberhof (RWH) The artificial ice track in Oberhof is bidding to host the 51st World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in 2023. These championships will be awarded at the FIL Congress in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in June 2019.

The FIL has already awarded the 2020 World Championships to Sochi, Russia, and the 2021 event to Calgary. There will be no FIL World Championships in 2022 due to the Olympics in Beijing.

Oberhof has also hosted the FIL World Championships on two occasions, in 1985 and 2008. The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has awarded the 2023 Biathlon World Championships to the winter sports center in Thuringia.
