Oberhof the only applicant for 2023 Luge World Championships

Berchtesgaden (RWH) The luge track in Oberhof is the only applicant in the bid to host the International Luge Federation’s (FIL) World Championships. The host of the 51st World Championships will be selected at the FIL Congress in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on 15 June 2019. Oberhof has already been selected to host the Biathlon World Championships in 2023. 
The world’s second oldest artificial sliding track last hosted the FIL World Championships in 2008. Prior to that, the winter sports centre in the Thuringian Forest in Germany provided the setting for the luge title race in 1973 and 1985.
