Olympic Champion Natalie Geisenberger to carry football trophy into Olympic Stadium

Berlin (RWH) Olympic and three-time World Champion Natalie Geisenberger has been invited to carry the trophy into the Olympic Stadium at the German DFB Cup final on 21 May in Berlin. “This is a great honour”, the 28-year-old told journalists in the German capital. The 73rd DFB Cup final will be fought out by Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich at the Olympic Stadium, which has hosted the final since 1985. The match is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm.
Last year, Olympic fencing champion Britta Heidemann carried the DFB Cup onto the field. Previous celebrities selected for the honour include Olympic gold medallists Maria Höfl-Riesch (alpine skiing) and Magdalena Neuner (biathlon), former swimmer Franziska van Almsick, world kickboxing champion Dr Christine Theiss and fashion model Eva Padberg.
