Olympic Champions Germany take first team relay win of the season

Oberhof (RWH) Olympic Champions Germany have taken their first win of the season in the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW. In the line-up of Anna Berreiter, Johannes Ludwig and Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt, the German quartet finished ahead of the the US team comprising Summer Britcher, Tucker West and Chris Mazdzer/Jayson Terdiman in second. Third place went to the Latvian squad featuring Kendija Aparjode, Inars Kivlenieks and Andris Sics/Juris Sics. Some 6,300 spectators attended the three-day event despite persistent rain.
After four of six events, the German team leads the overall standings on 315 points just ahead of former European Champions Italy (310), who managed fifth in Thuringia under the leadership of Armin Zöggeler. The current European Champions Austria are now in third place with 291 points. The team in the red-white-red jerseys finished seventh in Oberhof.
Following on from Oberhof and the highlight of the season, the 49th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in the Russian city of Sochi (14–16 February 2020), the final races of the Viessmann World Cup season are scheduled for Winterberg (22–23 February 2020) and Königssee (29 February – 1 March 2020). The last two events in the Viessmann Team Relay World Cup presented by BMW will be staged there.
