Vancouver (pps) In discussions with the Organising Committee VANOC of the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, (February 12-28, 2010), the International Luge Federation, FIL, succeeded in adjusting the starting times for the luge competitions.
The decisions in the men’s singles (February 14, 2010) and the women’s singles (February 16, 2010) with the third and fourth heats, originally set for 17:00 hrs local time, have been pushed to 13:00 hrs local time. Due to the time difference (nine hours) the eventual Olympic champions in the men’s and women’s singles will thus be determined shortly before midnight, a prime-time slot in Europe. However, the starting times for the first and second heat in the men’s singles (February 13) and women’s singles (February 15) will begin at 17:00 hrs as originally scheduled.
There will be no schedule adjustments in the double-seater, the decision as to the eventual medal-winners is set to start at 17:00 local time on February 17.
