Innsbruck (pps) The Austrian Luge Federation (ÖRV) announced that Nina Reithmayer, after a bad crash at the World Cup in Koenigssee, suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in her left knee. This is the result of examinations in the private clinic Hochrum, where the 29-year-old was treated by Dr. Christian Hoser.

“I felt right away that it was something big. The diagnosis is a bitter blow, especially because even in a normal case you have to take a six-week long break,” said the 2010 Olympic silver medalist. “But I’m a fighter and I will move heaven and earth to be fit again for Sochi.”

According to the Austrian federation, Reithmayer will miss the upcoming World Cups in Oberhof and Altenberg, both in Germany. If the recovery goes according to plan, the luger from Tyrol wants to return to the World Cup circuit at the season final in Sigulda, Latvia (January 25-26, 2014), at the same time the European Championships.
