Vienna (pps) Austrian public broadcaster ORF will feature live transmissions of the 43rd Luge World Championships of the International Luge Federation, FIL, in Altenberg (GER) on February 10-12, 2012. This was announced by the Austrian Luge Federation (ÖRV). Additionally, ORF plans to show live pictures of the Viessmann Luge World Cup stop on the track in Innsbruck-Igls when the luge season will kick off at the end of November 2011. Similar to last year, ORF will offer extensive coverage of the other Viessmann Luge World Cup stops on its special channel “Sport plus”. This is how public broadcaster ORF is taking into account the success of Austria’s luge athletes. At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver (CAN), Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger again claimed the gold medal in doubles – as they did 2006 in Torino – and Nina Reithmayer earned silver in the women’s singles. In addition, Linger-Linger took the 2011 World Championship title.
