Pigneter celebrates second victory

Latsch (PMA) - Patrick Pigneter won a thrilling World Cup race held at Latsch in South Tyrol. The current World Champion won the men's competition. At the qualification run he built the foundation for his victory on home soil. New in this season is, that a World Cup race is decided in only one competition run. Although the time gap of the qualification will be added to the result.

Pigneter scored the best qualification time on Saturday. On Sunday the finalists started in reverse starting order. Florian Clara scored the third-best time of Sunday's run and improved from seventh to fourth place. Austrian Thomas Kammerlander finished on third place, with a lead of four hundredths. Stefan Federer from Italy, sensational third after qualification run, fell back to fifth place.

After the qualification run Pigneter had a lead of 32 hundredths. With a fantastic final run Alex Gruber put last year's Overall World Cup winner and current World Champion under pressure. Pigneter saved a small lead of 17 hundredths out of the last corner and celebrated his 42nd World Cup win. At the Overall World Cup he is extending his lead, after the injury of Austrian Michael Scheikl.
