The FIL Luge World Cup on natural track has entered the home straight. On Friday in Umhausen (AUT) the penultimate race of the season was on the program for the doubles.

Pigneter/Clara Umhausen I 2023

Second victory this season for Pigneter/Clara (ITA)

Umhausen (FIL/02/17/2023) The first four races of the season were dominated by Patrick and Matthias Lambacher (ITA). The luge- brothers celebrated four wins in a row. Patrick Pigneter/Florian Clara (ITA) fought back at the classic in Deutschnofen/Nova Ponente (ITA) at the end of January, and the experienced riders were also right on top of the podium on Friday in Umhausen. On the "Grantau"-track they celebrated their second win of the season in 1:21.06 minutes, it was their 67th World Cup victory overall. Lambacher/Lambacher (+0.80 seconds) and the junior world champions from Slovenia, Matevz Vertelj/Vid Kralj (+2.72 seconds) took pride of place.

Before the season finale on Saturday, the overall lead of Lambacher/Lambacher (570 points) over Pigneter/Clara (540) shrank to 30 points. One thing is certain: If Pigneter/Clara wins, Lambacher/Lambacher will be enough to win the big crystal globe for the first time by coming in third.

The races in Umhausen (AUT) will be broadcast live on the homepage of the International Luge Federation FIL at www.fil-luge.org.
