Deutschnofen (PMA) Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara (ITA) are the winners of the third GRM Group Luge World Cup on Natural Track. They win the race at Deutschnofen in front of Russian Aleksandr Egorov and Petr Popov. Both doubles are sharing the lead in World Cup with 270 points each after three of six events. Due to the warm temperatures and conditions Doubles only raced one competition run. Third place went to Austria and Rupert Brüggler and Tobias Angerer. They beat their team mates Christoph Regensburger and Dominik Holzknecht by only four hundredths. Pigneter and Clara are unbeaten at the “Pfösl-Riep”-track. They finished first at every Doubles World Cup Event held at Deutschnofen. Mens and Ladies Single races are held on Sunday from 09:30. Russian Doubles Pavel Silin and Iwan Rodin win the Nations Cup. Ladies Cup was won by Svetlana Zaravina (RUS) in front of her team mate Lubov Starikova (RUS). Third place went surprisingly to 15-year-old local hero Daniela Mittermair at her first World Cup event. Men’s race was won by Florian Breitenberger (ITA). First Junior World Cup on Natural Track was held at Umhausen (AUT). Italian young guns celebrate a full victory by winning Men’s, Ladies and Doubles event. Alexandra Pfattner, Thomas Unterholzer and the double pairing Armin Folie and Elias Gruber are the first winners in FIL history. Junior World Cup has four events including the European Championships held at Oberperfuss (AUT) from 5th to 8th February. STATEMENTS: Florian Clara (ITA): „After the bitter defeat at Laas we started today with a lot of anger. We pushed ourselves hard at the start. When we came to the finish line with a lead of two and a half seconds I knew, that no one can beat us today. It was difficult to race today due to the warm temperatures. There was very little grip.” Petr Popov (RUS): „I didn’t worked well for us today. We don’t like warm temperatures and made some mistakes. We are fully-motivated for World Championships next week and can beat Pigneter/Clara with a little luck”. Rupert Brüggler (AUT): „The conditions were tricky today. The result was as surprising as the second place last week at Laas. With these two results we are really looking forward to the World Championships in front of our home crowd.”
