Leipzig (RWH) The production company MEDIAHEADZ of Leipzig, Germany, has announced that the documentary “Being Bruno Banani” will be premiered twice in Germany, with the national premiere during the Neisse Film Festival in Zittau on 8 May 2015 (6:30 pm, Hillersche Villa), and the Bavarian premiere on 13 May (8:00 pm, ARRI Kino) during the 30th International Documentary Film Festival Munich. MEDIAHEADZ writes that over 250 hours of audio and visual material went into the making of “Being Bruno Banani”, resulting in a 98-minute documentary that will be enjoyed not only by luge fans. Their journey was “a time of privations, sacrifice, dedication and passion always marked with hope and confidence.” The North American premiere is scheduled for 7 June 2015 during the Canadian Sport Film Festival in Toronto. The documentary tells the story of Bruno Banani from the Tonga Islands in the South Pacific. Banani was born Fuahea Semi on 4 December 1987, won a casting call in Tonga, and then officially changed his name to Bruno Banani. It was under this name that the Tongan athlete starting competing in the Viessmann Luge World Cup in the 2009/2010 season, where he qualified for the Olympic Winter Games and eventually came 32nd at Sochi 2014.
