Lake Placid (RWH) A positive summary of the 2015/2016 season was taken by the President of the International Luge Federation (FIL), Josef Fendt from Germany. „We are looking back on the most colorful and most diversified Winter ever“, the Silver Medalist of the 1976 Winter Olympic Games stated in his speech at the 64th FIL Congress at Lake Placid, New York. Fendt mainly referred to the numerous different nations which made it to the podium at the Koenigssee FIL World Championships, during the nine Viessmann World Cups, the Youth Olympic Games at Lillehammer, Norway, and the Junior World Championships at Winterberg, Germany.

The FIL president’s mayor concerns refer to the preparations of the 2018 Olympic Games at PyeongChang, Korea, which did not match the planning lately. After the homologation could not be carried out as planned in spring 2016 the confirmation to re-schedule the homologation for early October is still missing, Fendt complained.
