Oberstolz-Gruber and Leitner-Resch reconciled to the track at Cesana Park City (pps) Nine months after the 2006 Torino Olympic Games, Italy’s Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber and Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch of Germany have reconciled to the Olympic track at Cesana. They were the undisputed top favourites but, eventually, they had to do with a fifth and sixth place. However, at the Viessmann World Cup opener the winners Oberstolz-Gruber and silver medallists Leitner-Resch gave proof that they were indeed beaten “below value” at the Olympic Games. „We have taken revenge,“ a happy Christian Oberstolz explained. And Patric Leitner was glad that „we did not repeat the mistakes we made at the Olympic Games”. With the same level of performance shown at the World Cup opener in Cesana, the defending champions in the Viessmann Luge World Cup, Leitner-Resch, as well as the runners-up in the overall ranking, Oberstolz-Gruber, are yet again the top favourites to win the overall World Cup ranking.
