Cesana Pariol (pps) There will be a lot of excitement in the doubles’ event in the upcoming 2006-07 season. More than half a dozen doubles’ teams will be fighting for medals. These are, for instance, 2006 Olympic champions Andreas Linger-Wolfgang Linger (Austria), European and overall 2006 World Cup champions Patric Leitner-Alexander Resch (Germany), their team colleagues and 2006 Olympic silver medallists André Florschuetz-Torsten Wustlich, as well as Italy’s Olympic bronze medallists Gerhard Plankensteiner-Oswald Haselrieder and Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber, runner-up in the overall World Cup rankings.
Further medal contenders are Mark Grimmette-Brian Martin (USA), 1998 Olympic bronze and 2002 Olympic silver medallists, World Champions and Olympic fourth-placed Tobias Schiegl-Markus Schiegel (AUT), Canada’s Mike Moffat-Chris Moffat and Grant Albrecht-Eric Pothier as well as Andris Sics-Juris Sics (LAT), who achieved a seventh place at the 2006 Olympic Games.
