Calgary (pps) In Calgary, Patric Leitner explained during the bus ride to the victory ceremony, they would surely become joint winners boasting the same time. The 2002 Olympic champion referred to the gap to Italy’s Christian Oberstolz-Patrick Gruber who won the first two World Cup events. Oberstolz-Gruber were two tenths of a second ahead in Cesana, at the second Viessmann Luge World Cup in Park City it was merely one tenth of a second. Accordingly, the two doubles should post the same time in Calgary next weekend. Christian Oberstolz commented: “Being joint winners boasting the same time – I would accept that immediately even without a single run.”

In the Luge World Cup not only the top favourites in the doubles’ event have to juggle with hundredths or thousands of a second. “It’s really very close”, Patric Leitner described the situation. “There are seven or eight teams finishing within a tenth of a second and they’re all possible title contenders. Just one tiny mistake and you’re out.”
