Berchtesgaden (FIL) In order to analyze the individual situation of all organizers of FIL events at an early stage and to prepare suitable measures so that luge competitions can be carried out with as little risk as possible, the FIL founded the COVID-19 Working Group as early as May 2020.

This important working group is headed and moderated by Sports Director Maria-Luise Rainer. The Technical Director Artificial Track Christian Eigentler and mostly Executive Director Christoph Schweiger participate in the video conferences. As the FIL's Hygiene Officer, Schweiger will control the observance of all hygiene rules in the coming winter.
FIL Vice-President for Marketing Thomas Schwab was in charge of the development of the protection and hygiene concept. Thomas Schwab reports: “The second version of the FIL Protection and Hygiene Concept was prepared in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Ulrike Protzer, Director at the Institute of Virology at the Technical University of Munich. We are glad that we had such competent support”.

Corona regulations and requirements vary from country to country and change frequently. For example, travel restrictions and associated quarantine times and regulations in different countries and regions. The head of the COVID-19 working group speaks of great planning uncertainties: “Unfortunately, the general conditions change frequently. Therefore reliable and long-term prognoses are not possible in the COVID pandemic period. Planning uncertainties and risks remain”.

With the objective of implementing protection concepts and hygiene measures as uniformly as possible for all FIL events, there is ongoing coordination with all partners. Maria-Luise Rainer appeals to everyone: “The greatest responsibility lies with each individual. Preventive measures as well as acting on one's own responsibility and treating each other with respect apply.”
