PyeongChang 2018 generated six-figure profits according to head of OC

Beijing (RWH) The 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang generated “millions of US dollars in profit” as Lee Hee-beom, President of the Games’ Organizing Committee, announced at a de-briefing meeting between the international winter sports associations, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the organiser (POCOG). Lee explained that he was proud of positive outcome. “We’re currently putting together the final figures,” he said. IOC President Thomas Bach added: “The whole matter of the de-brief just goes to show that the IOC Reform and the 2020 Agenda are coming to fruition.”
Lee went on to explain that the outcome was also a result of the “close collaboration between the Korean government and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).” When he assumed the post of President two years ago, the figures indicated that there would be a deficit of around USD 300 million. “The IOC’s strategic roadmap “Agenda 2020” made a huge contribution to the improvement in the financial situation,” said Lee Hee-beom.
