PyeongChang (RWH) PyeongChang in Korea is set to host its first ever International Luge Federation (FIL) conference. The representatives of the 54 official national federations will be meeting on 19 and 20 June 2015 for the 63rd annual conference of the professional Olympic association in the city that will be hosting the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in 2018. The Conference agenda includes the reports of President Josef Fendt (GER) and Secretary General Svein Romstad (USA), as well as the venue for the 48th FIL World Championships in 2019. The candidates (in alphabetical order) are Lake Placid (USA), Sochi (RUS) and Winterberg (GER). The representatives of the national federations will also be able to see for themselves how the preparations for the Olympics are coming along. Korea brings the number of countries that have hosted a FIL Conference to 21: AUT, BUL, BRA, CAN, CZE, FRA, GER (both FRG and GDR), GRE, ITA, JPN, YUG, KOR, LAT, NOR, POL, RUS, SUI, SVK, SWE, TUR and USA, with Innsbruck (AUT) at the top of the list with a record six events. The 1st FIL Conference was held in Cortina d’Ampezzo (ITA) on 6 February 1953, and the 64th FIL Conference next year will take place in Lake Placid (USA).
