They desperately waited for snow and cold weather, but after all had to give up: the Canadian organisers of the World Cup opening race in Grande Prairie had to cancel their race. With the present local weather conditions it was impossible to prepare a race able track. It was not an easy task to find a replacement, as also in Europe these days snow is hard to find. Finally a tiny place called Kampill/Longiarù could offer winter conditions. The place is well known to athletes, as the track, located almost 1400 meters above sea level, is one of the first tracks in the year where training conditions on snow can be found. Also this year most nations did their final preparations in Longiarù.
