The 24-year-old girl was only beaten by two-time Olympic Silver medalist Barbara Niedernhuber from Germany, who captured in Lake Placid her third victory in Viessmann Luge World Cup. So far, two third places by Marie-Claude Staudinger (born Doyen) and Tyler Seitz have been the best results ever for Team Canada in history of Viessmann Luge World Cup. Regan Lauscher was in the lead after the first run and lost the race only by 0,142 seconds. Barbara Niedernhuber moved from 9th place to the top in a total time of one minute 30,267 seconds. Quotes Barbara Niedernhuber (Olympic Silver Medalist 1998 and 2002) „Finishing on 9th place after the first run i never expected this victory. I´ve always captured second and third places at the Olympics or the Worlds. So I´m very happy about this victory.“ Regan Lauscher (CAN) „I was really shocked watching my time after the first run. First of all i thought the clock might be wrong. I have made a double check with my coaches. I`m sure, one day the winning streak of the German girls will end. If not with me, with someboby else. But the winning streak will end one day. I hope, there will be some spectators at the World Cup next Friday and Sunday in Calgary.” Anastasia Antonova-Oberstolz (ITA) „I´m very satisfied. Third place is my best result ever. Never before I was on the podium.”
