Tokyo (pps) Happy ending for Renato Mizoguchi: More than two years after his serious crash at the Olympic track in Cesana-Pariol, the luge athlete from Brazil has married. According to information from the Brazilian Ice Sports Federation, the 32 years old Mizoguchi, who now lives in Japan, has tied the knot with his longtime girl-friend Yuko in Tokyo.

As one of Brazil’s first Olympic luge athletes, Renato Mizoguchi finished on rank 46 at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. At the 2004 World Championships in Nagano/Japan, Renato, who has Japanese ancestors, reached rank 40. On January 30, 2005, Renato Mizoguchi crashed very badly during training at the future Olympic track for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin and was in an induced coma for a week. After his recovery, he was invited by the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the Organizing Committee (TOROC) to visit the Olympic Winter Games in Turin as a guest.
