Whistler (pps) Russia’s national luge squad will not compete at the eighth stop of the Viessmann Luge World Cup series in Lake Placid (USA) on February 8-9, 2013. Instead, the team of the future hosts of the 2014 Winter Games will put in training runs on the future Olympic track in Sochi, where this season’s final of the World Cup series will be carried out. However, the Russian luge team has to share the artificially refrigerated track with the participants of the Training Week of the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (FIBT). Russia missed out on medals at the 44th World Championships of the International Luge Federation (FIL) in Whistler (Canada). At the 2012 FIL Luge Worlds in Altenberg (GER) Russia claimed three silver medals thanks to Tatiana Ivanova, Albert Demchenko and the Team Relay.
