Russia wins Gold and Bronze at the doubles event - Ukraine takes Silver
Latsch (PMA) - Andrei Shcheglov and Nikita Tarasov are the first winners of the 10th Luge Junior World Championships on Natural Track of the International Luge Federation (FIL). The two Russians win the doubles event at Latsch, Italy.
Two years ago Shcheglov and Tarasov finished second and third at the last World Championships at Vatra Dornei. They participated with different doubles partners. Now they are the top pair and celebrate their biggest career victory. Second place and the silver medal went surprisingly to the Ukraine. Andryi Demchuk and Miroslav Lenko have two mistake-free runs. It is only their third race at the doubles.
Bronze medal went to Russia. Kirill Kravchuk and Aleksandr Zyrianov celebrate their biggest success so far and finished third. Dellabasi/Ozcan score fourth place, which is the best Turkish result on natural track. Fifth place went to Bulgarian Veselin/Dimitrov ahead of the young polish team Pietraszko/Budny. The co-favourites for the victory Gaio/Debertolis from Italy crashed out.
