Sochi (RWH) Albert Demchenko, the grand old man of Russian Luge, has taught his protégés a lesson. The three time silver medalist at Winter Games, who is now working as a coach for the Russian Federation, captured the Gold medal at the national Championships on the Olympic track of Sochi. Even World Champion Semen Pavlichenko, who won at the European Championships as well the Gold medal, was among the surrenders. Pavlichenko finished on third place behind Stepan Fedorov. After his official retirement last year Albert Demchenko (43 years old) started working for the Russian federation. Women’s title was won by Tatiana Ivanova, who won Silver at the World Championships 2015 at Sigulda/Latvia. Second place went to Ekatarina Baturina followed bei former European Champion Natalia Khoreva. In double’s race a Andrey Bogdanov-Andrey Medvedev secured the title. Second and third place went to Alexandr Denisyev-Vladislav Antonov and Vladislav Yuzhakov-Vladimir Prokhorov. Russian Champions in team relay became Natalia Khoreva, Roman Repilov and Bogdanov-Medvedev.
