Russian Egorov writes history at Moscow

Moscow (PMA) - Moscow hosted the fourth World Cup on natural track and the race was held in the heart of the city. The track is situated at Vorobyevy Gory, near the university. On Sunday the deciding and final competition runs of men and women were scheduled.

Men's race ended with a historic victory. Never before a male athlete from Russia had won a World Cup race on natural track. Aleksandr Egorov celebrated his maiden victory at a singles event. He won ahead of his team mate Juri Talikh, who set the fastest time at qualification. Third place went to Austrian Bernd Neurauter, who was replacing his injured team mate Michael Scheikl at Russia. He improves from fifth to third place at the final run. It is the first World Cup podium for the three athletes. Russian Gregori Bukin finished fourth. Italian Alex Gruber and Austrian Thomas Kammerlander shared fifth place. Overall World Cup leader Patrick Pigneter ended on seventh position.
